Dr. Sarah Champion, DVM
Owner, Veterinarian
Dr. Champion is from Headland, AL. She went to Auburn University for both her undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. She married Rusty Champion in 2012 and began working as an emergency veterinarian as well as a surgeon in Dothan, AL. Dr. Sarah and Rusty opened Abbie Creek Animal Hospital in 2018 in Abbeville, AL. They have one son, Jackson and are expecting their second son in September 2025. They also have 3 dogs, 2 cats, and 5 horses. They enjoy training retrievers and working cattle on the family farm in their spare time.
Dr. Lauren Karman, DVM
Associate Veterinarian
Dr. Lauren Karman earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the Ohio State University. Originally from Hamilton, Ohio she brings a strong Midwestern work ethic and a deep compassion for animals to her professional practice. Dr. Karman strives to provide high-quality care across a wide range of a species, with a particular passion for large animal medicine and small animal surgery.
Outside of her veterinary work, Dr. Karman enjoys an active, nature-centered lifestyle. Her hobbies include horseback riding, hiking, and camping. She and her husband are on a shared missions to visit every U.S. national park over the next few years. She also values quality time with her family and enjoys daily walks with her dog, Luna.
Dana Gardner

Dana has worked in the pet care and veterinary industry for over 8 years. She has a one year old son, Sawyer. Dana has a passion for all parts of veterinary medicine and helps keep our clinic running smoothly!

Kiera is from Headland, AL. She graduated from High School in 2025 and has a passion for training wild mustangs and horses in her spare time.

Beth is originally from Sylacauga but now resides in Clayton. She has been with us since September 2023. She has two children, two grandchildren, and a cat named Skitty Noodle. She enjoys spending time with her family, watching college football and reading.

Shannon is from Skipperville, AL. She loves patient care and keeping our clinic clean! Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her husband, three children, chickens and dogs!

Cayla is from Texasville, AL. She has been a part of the ACAH family since 2020 & has been in the veterinary field for 5 years! Her favorite part about ACAH is definitely working cows with Dr. Champion. Cayla has 3 cats; Dudley, Yote, & Ralph, 3 dogs; Bailey, Porter, & Milo, & what’s a farm girl without her herds of cattle & flocks of chickens?! When Cayla’s not at the clinic, she enjoys spending time with her husband & family going hunting & fishing.

Emma Grace is originally from Headland but currently lives in Troy and is enrolled in Veterinary Technician School. She has a passion for horses, training and educating clients.
